A Rather Grand Opening

You often see great openings on t'mainland. The Channel Tunnel, The London Eye, The Trafford Centre. In the case of the latter, you often get people queuing over night to pick up bargains. (Granted, you get people queuing for weeks for Twilight movies or the new iPhone but those are exceptions for sad, sad people without a life. I have to admit that I did queue up for 30 minutes to watch the first Star Wars movie when it came out.)

Well, Stornoway has had a grand opening of it's own today. Argos opened it's doors for the first time this morning. People starting queuing as early as 7:20AM and by the opening at 9AM we had fifty people in the queue. If you've ever been in Stornoway first thing on a Saturday morning, you'll know that's a lot.

I strongly suggest that you buy a copy of the next Stornoway Gazette which will be full of pictures of the Grand Opening of Argos.

I'm rushing in to get hold of an After 8 Mint carriage (top of the first page).

Onto a more serious point, it'll be interest to see what impact this store has on the other shops in the area - Argos sells a lot of products that are sold by surrounding shops so there's going to be some impact over the next couple of months.
